Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Crockett, 83, wife of Howard Douglas "Dee" Crockett and a lifelong resident of Tangier, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, MD.
Born on September 12, 1926, Mrs. Crockett was the daughter of the late Willie C. Crockett, Sr. and Nina Landon Crockett. She was a retired teacher's aide from Tangier Combined School and loved working with children. She was a member of New Testament Church.
Other than her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Betty Howard Bowden of Tangier; a son, Tom Crockett of Salisbury, MD; a brother, Willie C. Crockett, II and wife Iris of Onancock, VA; five grandchildren, Diana Johnson, Marilyn Pruitt, Donald Bowden, Duane Crockett and Anna Burt; six great-grandchildren, Lance Daley, Corinne Pruitt, Jill Pruitt, Abigail Johnson, Elijah Johnson and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Burt and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Douglas Crockett; a brother, Joshua L. Crockett; a granddaughter, Stephanie Daley and a great-grandson, Jordon Wesley Daley.
Funeral services will be conducted from the New Testament Church on Tangier on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Crockett Family Cemetery on Tangier. There will be a visitation at the New Testament Church on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23502.
