Mrs. Grace Ann Alfree, 70, wife of the late Edwin Wilson Alfree and a resident of Parksley, VA, formerly of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
Born on October 6, 1939 in Chestertown, MD, Mrs. Alfree was the daughter of the late John Irvin Comegys and Pearl Rector Comegys. She was a metalcrafter and seamstress, was a United Methodist, and greatly enjoyed playing Bingo and cards with her family.
Survivors include four children, Brenda Sanders and husband Paul of Parksley, Edwin W. Alfree, Jr. and his wife Sandi of Captain's Cove, Greenbackville, VA, Brian Alfree and his fiancee Laura Eder, and Randy Alfree, all of Parksley; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Alfree of Parksley; two brothers, Guy and John Comegys; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; very close friends, Dorothy and Billy Carter and their family; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her husband and parents, she was predeceased by four brothers, Bobby, Donald, Ralph and James Comegys; and a grandson, Edwin Nelson Alfree.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Acts the Apostolic Church in Temperanceville, VA on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Edgehill Cemetery in Accomac. There will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
